Grammy® award-winning soprano, Susan Narucki, sings a selection of songs composed by artists who were in residence at the MacDowell colony. Edward MacDowell, widely recognized as America's first great classical musician began this haven for American composers in 1907. Since then artists of all genres have found respite there to work. Consummate pianist Alan Feinberg accompanies Ms. Narucki and narrator Nathan Randall reads a number of poems written by such literary luminaries as James Baldwin and Willa Cather. This CD was supported in part by grants from the Aaron Copland Fund for Music and the Elizabeth A. Dodson Fund, managed by Columbia University in New York City. This is a must-have CD for anyone with a love for American music and poetry.
