Dr. Joseph Stephens, a well-known pianist, organist and harpsichordist passed away May 29, 2008 at age 81 in Baltimore, Maryland. In addition to being a consummate musician, he was also a professor of psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University where he was an internationally recognized expert on schizophrenia.
On this recording Dr. Stephens plays a selection of Bach's keyboard works in this live recording from the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Stephens traversed the entire solo keyboard repertoire of J. S. Bach over a period of 1996-1979. This CD is drawn from those live performances. The playing is simply wonderful and the accompanying CD booklet notes were written by noted Bach scholar Howard Schott. This is a must have CD for all lovers of the harpsichord. (This disc was created from analog tapes and is therefore designated ADD.)
